Jeff Grubb got in touch again and revealed the plot details of the upcoming film adaptation of Super Mario Bros. in his podcast. According to him, it will be a musical about the adventures of two plumbers (of course, Mario and Luigi), who will fall into another world through a pipe. In another world, the heroes will be met by the villain Bowser, who will not please the plumbers with his deeds. It just won’t work to defeat the reptilian, so they will go for some kind of trick and turn Bowser’s own weapons against him. As a result, he will be burned in lava (after all, the cartoon is for children). In a P.S. scene, Bowser’s skeleton will emerge from the lava, hinting at a sequel. The movie will also feature characters Yoshi and Kamek – well-known by Nintendo fans. Jeff Grubb announces that they will fight with each other, so the adaptation will be truly exciting.

Why was the film postponed to 2023?

Nintendo and Illumination Studios have announced that the animated film adaptation of the iconic Mario adventures has been postponed by 4 months. The world premiere of the film will now take place on April 7, 2023. Other release dates for other regions are still unknown, but now that we know the release date in Japan, other regions should have a similar time. Previously, the film was supposed to be released in December 2022. In turn, Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto apologized for the postponement and promised that the wait would be worth it.
