Hacking Mortal Kombat 3 (SNES) – Game Genie Hinjinx
Hello friends it’s Tim here from Mario Mayhem saying these words to you!
Today I thought we would take a look at one of my all time favourite SNES games, Mortal Kombat 3! And more importantly, what can we do with the game genie to get this thing fatality-ing to the max, or something.
So enough introing, and let’s get to what we all came to see, hardcore fist on fist action! Wait, that came out wrong…
Let’s start with the code simply titled “Raining Blood” which sounded pretty intense! Enter in the code EE6E-34D4 and well, it turns out it is actually pretty lame. For a mortal kombat cheat code this one doesn’t really deliver! I expected raining blood always but instead I only managed to get a few measly droplets at then end of some rounds. What a boring way to start this video, I probably shouldn’t have started with the lamest code.
Maybe we should get back to some basics and check out some Galoob codes like D424-17D8 which when entered allows you to press Up at the main menu to access the “Kool Stuff Menu” and that is Kool with a K, just so you know it is cool. Believe it or not this is actually has some fun stuff in it, including changing some basic options, a mini space invaders type game that beat me so badly I cried whilst it made fun of me and even shows you the credits whenever you like! You can tell the team really had some good times making this classic game, which is always nice to see!
You can also enter the code D421-1DD8 to access the “Kooler Stuff” menu! Once you have added this code just press the select button to unlock it. This has some epic options for you to enable characters like Smoke on Montero straight off the bat! I got a bit too ambitious with my first try and enabled nearly everything and then got my butt handed to me by Lu Kang, but having your health auto fill back up and an unlimited timer does kind of make this pretty annoying when your opponent is so OP. Probably the best option here is the 1 button fatality enable, I remember having a lot of fun with this one when I was a kid! It actually allows you to press a single button at the end of the round and it will automatically perform a fatality, bability or friendship for you! If you want to test out your favourite characters different end moves then give this Kooler Stuff code a try for sure!
The last menu code we will look at is D42B-1FD8 which allows you to Press X on main menu to enable something called Scott’s Menu. This again is a pretty fun cheat menu and a nice easter egg that is hidden in the game! I’m not sure what this slots game has to do with anything, all I know is that after playing it twice I could never get anything to line up, so maybe you have better luck! Other than that it does unlock some other fun playing styles like “dark fighting” which is just about my normal button mashing approach to any fighting game, only you can’t see anything half the time and you just kind of have to hit and hope. This is a cool addition to an already cool game though so make sure you check out this menu or any of these cheat’s R us codes!
There is also a sound test code and also a bunch of codes relating to only playing against 1 particular player, but they are all quite long and there isn’t much to see that we haven’t already seen in Mortal Kombat 3.

Moving on from the menu codes, you can try the game genie cheat C230-CD62 which makes it so player 1 takes no damage. This essentially means that you will always get a flawless victory, which is pretty sweet! But I guess it does take some of the challenge out of the game. Also, what is the deal with these fighting games and their difficulty levels!? That first opponent is always a push over and then the second one always smashes you into oblivion before you even realise what is going on! Then after you use a continue they are more likely to be easier to beat. Pretty dirty tricks, even for a quarter eater!
There are also codes like 6D37-CF02 which is similar, but this one makes it so player 2 takes all damage no matter what, basically meaning anytime your opponent hits you, they hit themselves! I think these codes are more for the classic “Trick your friend” move then any kind of improvement or challenge element for a code, but they are still pretty fun to mess around with! Why are you hitting yourself? Why are you hitting yourself? Oh, You’re dead.
There are a few interesting fan discovered codes as well, like 6760-1D6D which allows you to fight at the top of the screen! This code seems to make the entire playable field, even the character selection, moved to the very top of the screen, it’s awesome! Well, if your idea of awesome is seeing two pairs of legs fight behind a timer whilst the screen kind of flickers and glitches out anyway.
We have already covered some ways to not lose energy off your health bar, but what about the code DD30-C762? This bad boy makes it so you can 1 hit KO player 2/your opponent! Kick me will you! Nobody shames Kung Lau! Now watch as I miss this uppercut!
If you enter in DDEE-4DAE things get super weird! This code sticks both you and your opponent right to the left hand side of the stage and just kind of says “Fight and see what happens”. The trouble here, despite the forced close quarters, is that the perspective of which way the characters are facing gets really muddled up, meaning some of your moves just won’t connect at all as the computer seems to not be able to work out which sprite is facing which way! Some hits hit and others just whiff! Whacky stuff!
And finally I just had to test out the code simply labelled “Hippy Fighting” to see what it would do. So preparing myself I entered in EE67-1D6D to see what would happen. I saw colours man, lots and lots of colours. And shapes, yeah, shapes man, pizza shapes, haha this is one weird graphical code for sure, not to mention some weird backwards eastern European looking writing at one point! This is just a classic game genie graphics glitch and I thought it was fun to finish on!
Anyway so that’s it for today my friends, don’t forget to smash that like and subscribe to Mario Mayhem button, Ring the bell to get notified when more mayhem comes out and don’t forget to make a comment down below letting us know what you thought of these cheats or what game you would like to see next?
